De-stressing on a Thursday

Wrath of the Titans was my way of beating stress today. I went to the movies with my family and I honestly did not expect going out tonight. I was dead tired from my office work and a little worried that it's gonna be a Friday tomorrow and I haven't finished some work yet. We will be going out of town this weekend and there will be a long holiday next week, how am I supposed to finish everything?

I enjoyed watching Wrath of the Titans although I have to admit that I did not entirely understood some of the dialogue. This post is not a movie review, I don't do movie reviews. Hahaha! I need to sleep. Good night!

Camera Review: Pentax Optio WG-1

We were in the search for an underwater camera and it led us to buying Pentax Optio WG-1 in Purple.
What made me choose this camera was primarily because of it's appearance. It looked so awesomely handsome! Aside from that, I wanted a decent camera which we can actually bring when diving. There are a lot of affordable underwater cameras in the market today but they're mostly usable only up to 3 meters and you can't bring that while diving.

All images used in this post (even those edited by me) were taken from the Pentax website.

What Pentax has to say about the camera:

12th generation
PENTAX’s 12th rugged generation waterproof digital camera is adventure proof, and suitable for almost any environment.
Shockproof
Shockproof, ruggedized design protects from drops up to 5 feet.
Coldproof
Coldproof to sub-freezing temps of minus 10 degrees C (14 degrees F).
14 megapixels
14 megapixel sensor offers plenty of image detail.
Large 2.7 inch LCD
Large 2.7 inch LCD features a wide angle 16:9 aspect ratio with anti-reflective coating.
HDMI port
An HDMI port plays back beautiful, high def images and video on HDTVs.
Digital Shake Reduction
Pixel Track and Digital Shake Reduction ensure sharp, blur-free images.
Waterproof
Waterproof to 33 feet is perfect for use when submerged.
Crushproof
Crushproof construction withstands weights up to 220 LBF (Pound force).
Dustproof
Dustproof design protects the camera from dry, dusty environments.
Wide angle 5X internal optical zoom lens
Wide angle 5X internal optical zoom lens (28-140mm equivalent) provides flexible capture of subjects near or far.
Digital Microscope mode
Enhanced Digital Microscope mode uses 5 macro LEDs for perfect focus and smooth, even lighting.
720p HD video
Capture video in widescreen 720p HD at 30 frames per second.

I haven't tried much of its features but I was very satisfied with the underwater photos we got from the Pentax Optio WG-1. I was actually really amused with its capability to capture panoramic shots. As to the video, the quality isn't very good and I've seen the underwater video taken by an iphone (with the use of an underwater gadget, of course) to be much better than Pentax' video. Nevertheless, it is a great deal for its price of P17,500.

Just a caution, though... We find the battery closure to be a bit loose but we were told by the saleslady that it was normal and that we shouldn't worry about it. When we asked to compare with the other Pentax Optio WG-1 cameras on stock at the store, the battery closure is the same for all stocks. Nonetheless, we had no problems using it underwater. Thankfully, it did not leak.

Pentax Optio WG-1's body is rubberized, and I think that this would be a great feature for this adventure-proof camera. I hope this camera would last us a long time.

Reverting back to Blogger Profile

I've reverted my blog settings back to Blogger Profile. Why? I just feel like I want to separate my google profile from my blogger profile, that simple.

And honestly, I am concerned about identity theft these days. I shrugged at the thought of identity theft when it was first discussed to me by my cousin, but now, when I heard stories about real people becoming victims of identity theft, I got scared.

There is one particular content writer here in my city whose name was used in several articles she didn't write. It could be alright for some people that their names are being used but how about if the articles associated with your name talks about something which could damage your reputation? I think that would be a very very bad situation.

Identity theft is real and we should be very careful on what we put online.

Malcapuya Fish Feeding Video

I am camera shy. Oh wait, I love posing for photos, but videos? Hmmm, I shy away! I don't know why but I think I kinda look my worst at videos.

Here is one video that I'm not ashamed to post. This is actually the very first video that I edited in youtube. And wow, it takes a lot of time uploading this even if this is just one minute long, and a lot more time to edit! I can only imagine how much work vloggers have invested in their vlogs!

This was taken during our Malcapuya stop-over. I hope you enjoyed it!

The importance of a Camera

My work requires me to travel from time to time. While traveling, I make sure that I bring my Samsung T600 with me, a point-and-shoot camera that I find really handy specially when I am confronted with photo-worthy views and experiences.

I was out of town for three days this week and I intentionally left my camera at home. Woe to me! I was able to go to a lot of places and it would have been nicer if I'd have snapshots of where I've been to, and the great food I've eaten these past days.

Oh well, I guess I need to upgrade my phone so that I could still capture some photos despite not bringing my camera. And I guess I will have to write photo-less posts in the upcoming days.

Party! Party!

I've noticed that we've been attending a lot of parties nowadays. My brother, who is in second year college, is often invited to his classmates' 18th birthday or what we commonly call as the debut party. I've been seeing a lot of birthday invitations lying around our house.

If you're on your mid 20's as I am, you'd be receiving a lot of party invitations, too, such as wedding invitations, baby announcements, and bridal shower invitations. Currently, my former classmates are already getting married. I even found it amusing that recently, our high school valedictorian and salutatorian married each of their partners in the same day.

From all the wedding invitations I received the past months, I wonder how much time the couple spent in deciding with the designs, color, theme, and printing method. It must have been a grueling task to choose among the prototype invitations that the printer will show you. And of course, each couple should also take into consideration not just the physical appearance of the invitation but must also abide by the wedding invitation etiquettes. And of course, the couple should make their invitation as a reflection of themselves, any couple wouldn't want any cookie-cutter wedding invitation off the rack, it must be customized!

After the wedding, the couple can also send out wedding announcements which are more appropriately sent out to the couple's friends to inform them that the couple has just been married. This is actually useful for those times when you just want to invite a few people on your wedding day and throw a separate party to your other friends. Some people want to have an intimate wedding with only the immediate family members and a handful of very important persons.

I find it really convenient to order the invitations online, how about you?

The death of my skimboard

Poor thing.

Used once and got broken at the end of the day. I'm so sorry dear skim board. I should have been more careful with you.

My first skim board met its untimely death during our Skim and Surf Weekend in Amihan, Dahican, Mati City. I had this skim board since around late November last year, and she's all wrapped up in clear plastic before our Mati trip. I didn't expect that she wouldn't be able to endure the waves and maneuvers of my friends. Poor, poor, thing.

By the way, this skim board was actually a friend's work of art. I chose the design and color combination. I hope that I could have another skimboard exactly the same as this one but with a more sturdy body. I'm not really good in skim boarding, if you'd see me skim then you might even laugh at me. Lol!

Clipix: A revolutionary way to ORGANIZE!

I admit that I am a bookmark person. They help me best in saving all the webpages that I wanted to visit at a later time. Twenty four hours a day is not enough for me to read about all the interesting topics available on the world wide web, considering that most of my time is spent on my day job. Good thing there is a bookmark for every browser and it helps me go back to those articles that I really want to read.

Bookmarks, although there to help me organize, is not that very organized in itself. For one, my current bookmarks tab only lists all of the webpages in a chronological order. So the last ones would necessarily be at the bottom of the page. Two, saving bookmarks in a folder necessitates me to open the folder before I could see the bookmarked pages.

If you've been having the same problems such as mine, then I have good news for you! Introducing clipix! A revolutionary way of organizing your digital life! To have a preview of what I'm talking about, see the video below:

I tried clipix for the first time and as a first timer, I was a little confused. But I did not let this little confusion get in the way and now I am happy that I have signed up!

Before anything else, let me share to you that I have installed clipix in my Internet Explorer browser first because it was the easiest. It's also easy to install clipix in Google Chrome but instead of going to the Bookmarks Menu, you have to go to the TOOLS MENU and click Always Show Bookmarks Tab and then drag the clipix icon to your bookmarks tab.

For my first few minutes of using clipix, I got hooked already! I started with organizing my internet marketing stuff that I placed in a new clipboard. Look what I got:
  Clipix
What do you think? I have other clipboards for travel blogs, another clipboard for social networking, and some more clipboards for different topics. It's so easy to organize! Just click CLIP from your bookmarks tab, wait for the clipix app to appear, choose or make a new clipboard, choose visibility, hit CREATE and you're done!

Another feature of clipix that I found very interesting and helpful is that you can share you clipboards to your friends. A truly refreshing and revolutionary way of organizing your digital life!
Sign up for clipix today!
